Town Hall 06.11.2025
Notes from the November 6th 2025 NLB Town Hall
Attendees: 16
NLB Board Present: Lyle Worthington; Jasper van der Horst
Competition – how is it going so far? We discussed the rules changes – seemed there were no complaints. Warding rule is just a clarification, so not much real change. 4×15 was described as better/easier. We discussed if we should “police” out of control checks/contact in the 2nd divisions for player safety.
Vera introduced herself and we talked about the “confidential counselor” role. We covered again the goals of safe and inclusive sport, and the escalation path including our meldpunt and ISR. The website is updated – so you can find more information here:

We discussed progress and needs for KVLO and TeamNL Moves competition. This led into Summer League and how to grow and improve. We talked about the fact we are missing a good Summer Lax international tournament. We used to have Lowlands and TLC, and we’d like to reboot it. It is a fun experience, an opportunity for clubs to make some money, and international fun tournaments are one of the best parts of lacrosse. Throwing it out into the universe. We have a few motivated people who want to take this on, we just need more!
To improve Summer League – need to get the dates out sooner so people can block them on their calendar. The clinics were well received – so we intend to grow them as well.
Sixes – league / games / mini-tournaments like Utrecht? There are groups who want to go all sixes, those who want to really focus on box, and some who only want to play Field. That causes conflict with whatever choice we make here. The point is, it is a complicated issue, and that is why we have been hesitant to make big changes. Losing even more players because they aren’t happy with decision A or decision B would be quite painful, so we need to be purposeful in our choice. This is an open discussion, I think we should continue talking about it on every town hall.
THAT SAID, there was an idea from our national teams. They are ramping up to the first Olympic Qualifier, and would like for there to be more opportunities to play/practice sixes. They suggested more of what Utrecht/Groningen have done. Clubs organizing tournaments or gamedays – either formal or informal. Socialize them, recruit people to come play, and make a day or two of it. Can be formal teams, can be pick-up / sticks in the middle. It’ll be fun, good opportunity to hang with your lax people, and play some games. Open to any one suggesting a date and time – we will market it with you.
What we didn’t get to: Marketing – We need to step this up. More content, more press, more outreach. National effort.
Recruiting – How are we doing? What lessons can we learn from each other? Several clubs have had great success this year, others have lost more people than they gained. Let’s discuss what is working and what isn’t and try new things.
